I still think you're missing the point that you agree to the terms of service before even starting the game. You agree (it's a contract) that you will not bot in any way. If you break that agreement, there's nothing any lawyer or any judge can do. You agreed to it, and it says specifically you cannot bot. If someone botted, that is their problem and they must deal with the consequences that are stated directly in the contract that they agreed to.

I honestly have no sympathy for those who use the drunk bot and got reported and banned, as I clicked off every single one of my booze points myself instead of letting my computer do it for me. Whether or not it messes with the game itself or not, you are still able to walk away from your computer, and that is exactly what a bot is. If they got caught using it, tough luck, that's the risk they run. If they didn't want to get caught, maybe they should have sat in their guild hall in some obscure place that no one ever goes to, making themselves offline/away/dnd, before setting it up, and maybe they wouldn't have gotten banned because of it. If they're stupid enough to use it AGAIN after getting ANOTHER account as well, and get banned again, well, that's their fault as well.

Also everything you've said about titles that are not titles for skills is moot. You aren't told you need to grind to finish the game, meaning the grinding is optional. It's extra stuff on the side that they just decided that they wanted to tie to GW2 in some way which we aren't even sure of yet. Getting your account, and possibly other accounts in the future, banned for botting titles that are OPTIONAL is just dumb, imo.

I read this entire discussion, and so many people are missing the point with "it's wrong", or "dick move".

The legalese in the EULA allows them to do what they did, ENJOY it.

In most of those cases, they were banned for botting for a VERY LONG TIME, and those accounts are likely to retry the behavior, and for the rest, something they downloaded
altered one or more files in their computers, and got banned by not deleting them, cleaning the system and starting anew.

Sounds silly doesn't it?
No, you are missing the point.

Highways are set and have set rules. We can't modify it any way. We do not own the highway or even lease it. It's government property and we can lose the right to use it. So that isn't the same a sofware program that allows 3rd party sw for some things but not others. Anet gave us some creative lease with the game and we own or are leasing the game/server time for our accounts after buying the game.

You can use Gw2 and text mods/map mods etc. That sw is made by a 3rd party and is ok to use. Bot program is just another 3rd party program. I believe there are mouses or keyboards that can be programmed to click on a timer. Is that against the rules? If not then at what point does it become a problem? I understand dupers and people who use bots in pvp getting banned. Cuz they do things that humans cant, but for some of the silly stuff, it's like who cares. Any monkey can click a mouse 10k times. ITS NOT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT.

IMO only the PVPers and farmers should be upset at botters. They made most stuff cheap for the rest of us.

Great, then i'll expect you can give me your mini panda, sure they are cheap right? Lest we forget who's hands some very rare and irreplaceable items are in, remember, as you feel it made some things cheaper, it made some rarer things even more unattainable, so through the use of illegal software or hardware to accomplish what you consider a menial task, they put somethings so far out of reach of casual players as to make them laughable. Did they work as hard as non botting players to afford those things? not at all, did they profit from something that had no place in any format in the game? yes. So if by most stuff being cheap, you describe stacks of Ectos and Armbraces (now removed from the game, to what impact, who knows) one off tonics, and very rare minis( driving the prices of these so high only another botter could afford them, also now removed from the game. driving the remaining items even higher...) Then sir/ma'am i await my panda...

So do it. Or don't if you don't bother and think it's not an accomplishment.

Third party programs become a problem when they offer automation. People weren't banned for TexMod. People were banned for bots playing the game for them.

Simple as that.
